Basic Chili

Description This is the most basic recipe for chili. Chili keeps well frozen, so go ahead, cook extra and freeze some portions for future meals.

  • 4 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbs salt
  • 6 Tbs chili powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 quarts canned tomatoes, with juice (equivalent to 8 cups)
Methods/steps
  1. Use a 5 quart heavy saucepan to brown the beef with the onions and garlic. Drain. Add all ingredients and bring to a boil
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Serve warm, topped with cheese, crackers and chopped green onions.
