Baked or Grilled Onions
Description Onions, either baked or grilled, either way, a perfectly healthy side dish.

  • 6 medium onions, -- peeled
  • 6 tablespoons butter or oil
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
Methods/steps
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Halve the onions and arrange them in a greased baking dish or on a greased grill rack, dot with butter, and cook until tinged with black and brown,nearly charred, for 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes, brushing with more butter or oil as necessary to keep moist.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Serve hot or warm as side dish. Serve chilled as salad.
Additional Tips

To make this recipe suitable for the strictest of your vegetarian friends -and completely dairy free- forgo the butter and use vegetable oil -olive oil recommended.
