Mushrooms in Onion and Cream Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbs butter
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbs plain flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
Methods/steps
  1. Heat butter in a pan until melted, add onion, then, and cook for 5 minutes. Add sliced mushrooms and cook for a further minute stirring.
  2. Add flour and cook for 1-2 minutes before pouring in milk, gradually and stirring all the time, season with, pepper, and nutmeg to your taste, cook over a low heat for 5-8 minutes.
  3. Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with chopped parsley leaves and serve.
Additional Tips

Using cornstarch or other suitable starch to thicken the sauce would make this recipe gluten free.
