Mushrooms in Onion and Cream Sauce

- 3 Tbs butter
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 Tbs plain flour
- 1 cup milk
- salt and pepper
- nutmeg
Methods/steps
- Heat butter in a pan until melted, add onion, then, and cook for 5 minutes. Add sliced mushrooms and cook for a further minute stirring.
- Add flour and cook for 1-2 minutes before pouring in milk, gradually and stirring all the time, season with, pepper, and nutmeg to your taste, cook over a low heat for 5-8 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with chopped parsley leaves and serve.
Additional Tips
Using cornstarch or other suitable starch to thicken the sauce would make this recipe gluten free.
